DP Seals' ability to design and produce components meeting the most stringent specifications has again been demonstrated in its work for Kent Auto Developments Ltd.

The Newchurch based company manufactures a range of brake calipers - principally for sports motorbikes and racing Minis - and has gained an enviable reputation for performance and reliability under extremely demanding conditions.

The piston seals within each caliper are a safety critical component and are required to provide a 100% hydraulic seal at high pressures and elevated temperatures. DP Seals has designed and manufactured a seal system which keeps the hydraulic fluid as far away from the heat source as possible, this reduces the likelihood of the brake fluid boiling - a consequence of which is brake fading under hard usage.

Since the seals had to be resistant to possible degradation by the brake fluid - and continue to perform to specification at extremely high temperatures - they were made from a specially formulated EPDM material, and the fitted components were subjected to both exhaustive road testing and pressure testing to 4,500 psi.

KAD calipers are also fitted to Europe's fastest drag bike and the new Global Light GT series, and DP Seals continues to be involved in the on-going development of the company's brake components.
